Emotions When kids are at a new school, they start to have different kinds of emotions. Many will feel nervous, scared, or excited about school. Although those who are coming back as seniors may be happy they're in their final year and can't wait to see their friends again, most juniors or new kids are likely to be uptight or anxious. It's perfectly alright to feel anxious on the first day of school. Getting back to the school routine and adjusting to new amounts of homework takes some getting used to after a long break. You can try thinking back to some previous "first days"you had. Everything probably settled down pretty quickly once you got settled. Meeting new people or getting back with classmates can feel overwhelming, especially if you're the shy or reserved type. If too many people in a group makes you anxious, try saying hello to one or two new people a day — the kid at the desk next to yours in your classroom is a good way to start. Or sit with new people in the canteen. If you still feel uncomfortable after a couple of days, talk to the school counselor, a favorite teacher, or someone you trust with your feelings about what you can do. But give yourself time — most problems to school adjustment are not permanent. Labels: TEENAGE

Passerby: how do i cope with friendship problems? My bestfriend and i have been quarrelling for quite some time.
Dear Passerby, One way to cope with friendship problems is to forgive and forget. Most teenagers experience quarelling with friends too. You can cope by forgetting about the quarrel and forgiving your friend. Try to be the one to start a conversation with your friend. Maybe your friend had also forgotten about the quarrel and had already forgave you. Your friend might also want to talk to you but just don't know how to start a conversation with you. Hope we helped you cope with friendship problems better (:

Stella Ng: Any advise on how to recover quickly from surgery?
Dear Mrs Stella Ng, The best way to recover quickly from surgery is to stay happy everyday after your surgery! By staying happy everyday, you will forget the pain on your wound! Forgetting the pain will make you not think about the wound and letting it recover itself more quickly. You can also try to rest more to let your wound recover more quickly. Hope your wound will recover as fast as the Speed of light! :D

Dear Complicated me, I think you can try to talk to your best friend. As you mentioned, she's your best friend. By trying to talk to your best friend, you can know what happened and why she keep saying that you keep stealing her boyfriends. Maybe there is a misunderstanding between you and your best friend. After knowing why your best friend says that you steal her boyfriends, you can try to explain yourself and try to solve the misunderstanding. Hope you and your best friend can be best friends again! :D

CHOKING!A child may be choking and need help right away if he or she: - is unable to breathe
- is gasping or wheezing
- is unable to talk, cry, or make noise
- turns blue
- grabs at his or her throat or waves arms
- appears panicked
In those cases, immediately start abdominal thrusts the standard rescue procedure for choking, if you've been trained to do it properly. If you are not trained to do adominal thrusts, immediately call for the AMBULANCE. Do not reach into the mouth and grap the object or pat the childs back, this would result in pushing the object further down the air way and make the situation worsen. HOW TO PREVENT CHOKING YOUR KIDS?
- Make your kids seat still when they are eating
- Do not feed children younger than 4 years old food that are easy to choke on like nuts or hard candy.
- Cut food into smaller pieces before feeding
- Learn how to do adominal thrusts

You can try to communicate with your friend through phone and not lost contact with them. Or maybe just try to find some time for your friend. Sound like a roster of your homework for the next few nights — or maybe even just for tonight? Homework is a major part of going to school: It's your teachers' way of evaluating how much you understand of what's going on in class, and it helps reinforce important concepts. Create a Homework PlanLuckily, there are several things you can do to make homework less work. Here are some solutions to help you cope with your too-much-homework-a-day dilemma. (: - First, be sure you understand the assignment. Write it down in your student diary if you need to, and don't be afraid to ask questions about what's expected. It's much easier to take a minute to ask the teacher during or after class than to struggle to remember later that night!
- Second, use any extra time you have in school to work on your homework. Many schools have library that are specifically designed to allow students to study or get homework done. It's tempting to hang out with friends during study periods or unstructured time, but the more work you can get done in school, the less you'll have to do that night.
- Third, pace yourself. If you don't finish your homework during school, think about how much you have left and what else is going on that day, and then budget your time. Most secondary students have between 1 and 3 hours of homework a night. If it's a heavy homework day and it seems like you've got an assignment in every subject, you'll need to devote more time to homework. It's a good idea to come up with some kind of homework schedule, especially if you are involved in sports or activities.

You can ask your parents about it.They were once kids and have thier first crush before.Maybe, they will share their experience with you.You might also want to ask your brother or sister.I am sure that they are facing the same problems as you too. When you have a crush on someone and him/her also likes you, that will be a wonderful feeling. But things usually do not turn out like this....You will feel sad and depressed when you found out that him/her do not like you. That feeling is called heartbreak.Do not worry, heartbreak is not your heart breaking in pieces...Those sad feelings only last for a while and will soon fade away. When someone tells you that they like you, reject them nicely if you do not like them in return. Bullies! How?
Bullying is a big problem that affects lots of kids. Three-quarters of all kids say they have been bullied or teased. Being bullied can make kids feel really bad. The stress of dealing with bullies can make kids feel sick. Bullying can make kids not want to play outside or go to school. It's hard to keep your mind on schoolwork when you're worried about how you're going to deal with the bully. Bullying bothers everyone. Bullying can make school a place of fear and can lead to more violence and more stress for everyone. Why Do They Do this? Some bullies are:- looking for attention.
- Think bullying is a way to be popular or to get what they want.
- Trying to make themselves feel more important. When they pick on someone else, it can make them feel big and powerful.
- Come from families where everyone is angry and shouting all the time. They may think that being angry, calling names, and pushing people around is a normal way to act.
- Copying what they've seen someone else do.
- Have been bullied before.
- May not really know how hurtful their actions can be.
Most bullies don't understand or care about the feelings of others.Bullies often pick on someone they think they can have power over. They might pick on kids who get upset easily or who have trouble sticking up for themselves. Getting a big reaction out of someone can make bullies feel like they have the power they want. Sometimes bullies pick on someone who is smarter than they are or different from them in some way. Sometimes bullies just pick on a kid for no reason at all.
What to do?
- Don't give the bully a chance.
- Stand tall and be brave.
- Feel good about you.
- Get a friend or become friends with the bully.
- Ignore the bully.
- Stand up for yourself.
- Tell an adult.

Troubled Boy: Erm ... i am in pri5 and there is a big guy in my school who keep picking on me. I am very scared and troubled. Please help me ...
Dear Troubled boy,Don't be afraid of the bully. It may be because he is treated unfairly by other or by their family members. These bullies usually come from broken families who have nobody to turn to when in need. So, they become bullies to make their self-esteem higher. It is better to approach an adult for help than to solve your own problems. Next time, when you see the bully, don't be afraid and stand tall. If possible, make friends with the bully so that they can become a better person in life. Moreover, they will not feel lonely and satisfy their anger by beating people up. The bullies may seem strong on the outside but in the inside, they are more fragile than others. Don't judge a book by it's cover :DYour's Truly,The AuntiesLabels: Children, TAG REPLY

Young Girl: I'm 13 yrs old, im experiencing relationship problems. I find it hard to communicate with my friends. Please help me!
Dear Young Girl, Ahhhh! That's a question everyone is asking nowadays. See, friendship isn't as easy as ABC. To hear many of you tell it, making a good friend is almost like adding a new family member. It comes with trust and responsibility. Try to talk to your friends to find out what's the problem between you guys. Write her a note or e-mail. She may be feeling troubled lately and does not want to talk about it. But my advice is, "Cherish them like you only have one last day with them."Labels: TAG REPLY, TEENAGE

After a long holiday break of sleeping in or doing things in your time, the alarm bell announcing the first day of school can come off as quite a shock. Whether you're an anxious new freshman or a confident senior, heading back to school means a time of transition: new classes, new teachers, new schedules, and a new social scene. Hate it or love it, you have to go to school. Here are some ways to make the change from holidays to school a little better. The First-DayThe first day of school can be crazy. Freshmen walking around everywhere, running in all directions, looking for their classrooms. How can you combat first-day chaos? If you're starting at a new school, try to go for a visit before school starts. Most schools offer maps in their handbooks. Get one and give it a read before heading off to school — then keep it in your bag until you're familiar with your new environment.Your first day of school is also the time to bring in some new stationeries and papers. It can help to pack your school bag the night before school starts so you're not gonna panic at the last minute looking for what you need. And don't forget to bring back any forms that you'll need to hand in! Nobody would wanna start the first day of school leaving a bad impression on your form teacher 'cos of a form you forgot to bring. Schools usually starts with an assembly. You'll meet your new discipline mistress, teachers and they'll probably give you an overview of the school, its rules, what the term will be like and what is expected of your behavior. Afer that and introductions of the teacher and your classmates, some teachers will jump right into their first lesson, while others may have interactive activities planned. It all depends on what class, what teacher. Labels: TEENAGE

How to Burp Your Baby? When burping your baby, gently pat on your baby's back repeatedly- there's no need to pound hard on your baby's back. You may also want to experiment with different positions for burping that are comfortable for you and your baby. Many parents prefer to use one of these three methods: Sit upright and hold your baby against your chest. Your baby's chin should rest on your shoulder as you support his or her head and back with one hand. With the other hand, gently pat your baby's back. Sitting in a rocking chair and gently rocking with your baby while you do this may also help. Hold your baby sitting up, in your lap or across your knee. Support your baby's chest and head with one hand by cradling your baby's chin in the palm of your hand and resting the heel of your hand on your baby's chest (but be careful to grip your baby's chin - not throat). Use the other hand to pat your baby's back gently. Lay your baby on your lap on his or her belly. Support your baby's head and make sure it's higher than his or her chest. Gently pat your baby's back. Hope this would help parents who have difficultive burping their baby! Labels: ADULT

What if one of your friends is turning to bad company, how can I help him/her??Dear Waiwan, if your friend is turning to bad company, you can try to advice them about the consequences after joining the bad company. For example, they will start taking up smoking, or even worst, dealing with drugs. Which also leads to drug trafficking. Or he/she refuse to listen to your advice, you should report to his/her parents or teachers and councellors. If none of the above is helpful, the best advice is to report it to the police. Simply write your problems on the CBOX at the left so we can help solve your problem.ThankYouVeryMuch(:WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU FEEL LEFT OUT?- Find friends.-Speak up. - Invite a friend. -Don't take it out on yourself.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU HATE SCHOOL?It's a good idea to talk to someone about your problems with school. Your mom, dad, relative, teacher, or school counselor will be able to help you. It's especially important to tell an adult if the problem is that you're being bullied or someone hurts you physically. Another good idea is to write down your feelings about school in a journal. You can use a journal or diary or just write in an ordinary notebook. It's a great way to let out emotions that may be stuck inside you. And you don't have to share what you've written with others. If you feel disorganized or like you can't keep up with your schoolwork, your teachers and school counselors want to help. Teachers want and expect you to ask for help learning stuff. If all of your subjects seem really hard, a school counselor can help you sort things out. Special help is available if you need it. Try not to let the problems go on too long. It's easier to catch up on one chapter than the whole book!Information By: Yi XuanPosting By: SanthiyaLabels: Children

CRUSHES ARE NEW AND EXCITING.SO ENJOY THEM WHILE YOU CAN!!!SOMEDAY YOU WILL BE TELLING YOUR KIDS ABOUT YOUR FIRST CRUSH!!!!CRUSHES ROCKS!!! Labels: Children

Bullies!

Yours truly, The Aunties. Labels: TAG REPLY, TEENAGE
